Outer Volume Suppression (OVS) for Single Voxel Spectroscopy (SVS) at 7 Tesla using interleaved B1 shim settings

چکیده
Introduction High-field magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) has the potential to provide enhanced neurochemical information based on increased sensitivity and higher spectral resolution. However, problems arising in high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), such as more pronounced B0 and B1 inhomogeneities, may decrease spectral resolution and ultimately the quantification accuracy. A multi-channel transmit RF system is an emerging technology to mitigate B1 inhomogeneity during RF transmission. With RF shimming, an optimized combination of different RF amplitudes and phases per transmit channel results in a higher uniformity of the B1 field. Previous work has shown the successful implementation of B1 shimming localization in spectroscopic imaging [1]. The purpose of this work is to utilize this method for outer volume suppression (OVS) in single voxel spectroscopy (SVS) using interleaved RF shim settings.

Zoomed functional imaging in the human brain at 7 Tesla with simultaneous high spatial and high temporal resolution.
Functional neuroimaging in the human brain using noninvasive magnetic resonance methods has the potential of providing highly resolved maps of neuronal activation. Decreasing the voxel size and obtaining simultaneously high temporal resolution is a major challenge and is mainly limited by sensitivity. Here, signal-to-noise gains at high magnetic fields (7 Tesla) and an optimized surface coil se...
متن کاملCost function guided 3order B0 shimming for MR spectroscopic imaging at 7T
Introduction At high field strengths, shimming becomes increasingly more difficult and important since susceptibility induced B0 inhomogeneities increase. Exploiting up to 3 rd order shim coils on the system, a high number of degrees of freedom are available to generate a more homogeneous B0 field. In MR spectroscopy excellent shimming is an important factor for acquiring high quality data sinc...
متن کاملPreliminary Experience with Liver MRI and 1H MRS at 7 Tesla
Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy are useful in cancer diagnosis and treatment-response monitoring in many cancers, including those of the liver (1). Ultra-high magnetic fields have the potential to improve the quality of MRI by giving increased SNR and better image contrast. The increased SNR and spectral dispersion of ultra-high field can improve the precision of quant...

PURPOSE To evaluate the impact of heating-induced frequency drifts on single-voxel spectroscopy and to demonstrate correction strategies based on the interleaved reference scan technique. MATERIALS AND METHODS Frequency drifts induced by gradient heating are assessed for two clinical 3 Tesla (T) whole body MR systems. The interleaved reference scan (IRS) method is used for correcting these fr...
متن کاملSkewed adiabatic pulses for outer volume suppression in single voxel spectroscopy
Commonly, the product spectroscopic sequences available on commercial scanners don’t take full advantage of the scanner hardware. At an intermediate, now widely available field of 3T, issues like chemical shift displacement and contamination by external lipids become a problem, especially because of the low γB1 and the slow prescribed gradients. In this context, detection of metabolites at low ...
